Cedatos is investigated for ‘stealing’ its own data

The indictment against three Cedatos officials, detained on Friday, did not thriver in the Office of the Public Prosecution.
They were released after providing their version but the investigation of the case will continue. For lack of evidence, Judge Diana Tapia did not give way to the process driven by the prosecution. On Friday, four workers from the Cedatos polling company were arrested. After their arrest, Cedatos’ offices were raided.
Dozens of anti-riot police who guarded the company’s exteriors, Criminalistics agents, among others intervened in the operation.
Prosecutor Cecilia Garzón opened a file that was preceded by a complaint filed by Legislator of Alianza PAIS Rosana Alvarado.
The Vice-President of the Legislature denounced on 22 March the polling station for illicit association and alteration of documents. Her complaint originated in the results of a survey conducted on March 21, in which Cedatos gave a 52.4% advantage to Lenin Moreno of PAIS and a 47.6% to Guillermo Lasso, of the CREO-SUMA party.
